CIVCO Announces Support of AUA Tissue Ablative Course for Kidney and Prostate
Kalona, Iowa, USA, – CIVCO Medical Solutions, a global leader in probe positioning systems for perineal access, is announcing support of the upcoming American Urological Association’s (AUA) Tissue Ablative Course for Kidney and Prostate. The course focuses on ablative technologies, including cryotherapy and RF, as minimally invasive treatments for both prostate and kidney cancer, and is being held at the University of California, Irvine, in Orange, California, on October 29-30, 2011.
“CIVCO continues to support our partners and practitioners as they broaden their exposure to emerging technologies,” said Paul Bagli, Director of Surgery for CIVCO. “This course is of particular interest because it isolates trends in ablative therapy, which involves our current offering in cryotherapy positioning, the Multi-Purpose Workstation. We continue to endorse the AUA’s commitment to improving the skills of its members by engendering cooperation with the industry in a purely clinical setting, and we look forward to future opportunities.”
The audience for this course includes practicing urologists, interventional radiologists, residents and fellows in training interested in expanding the clinical application of ablation into their practice. Minimally invasive ablative therapies are increasingly accepted treatment options due to favorable clinical outcomes, reduced procedural pain, fewer complications and faster patient recovery. The course includes both didactic and hands-on skills training for laparoscopic image-guided (CT or MRI) percutaneous kidney cancer treatment and transperineal prostate ablation.
